Number Line, by MLC 4.2.0

Number Line is a comprehensive tool designed to assist students in visualizing number sequences and showcasing various strategies for counting, comparing, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Users can select number lines labeled with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, or negative numbers. Alternatively, they can opt for a blank number line with or without tick marks.

The application allows users to detail intervals between points on the line by making forward or backward jumps above and below the line. These jumps can be identified with their values or left unlabeled. Custom tick marks can be included on the number line to indicate equivalence or to compare number values. Drawing and annotation tools are available to illustrate strategies effectively.

A challenging feature of Number Line is the ability to conceal elements of the sequence displayed on the number line. This feature encourages students to apply their knowledge of number relationships and computation to identify the missing elements.

This virtual number line tool is an open-ended educational resource suitable for elementary classrooms and other learning environments utilizing iPads.
